This is usually the time where I decry the death of the music industry and the lack of any marquee albums coming out in the near future, but I am not going to do that this time (well, I guess I kind of did) because I am actually kind of excited for something (supposedly) coming out soon: the new album by Michelle Branch. Her debut album Teh Spirit Room was one of the greatest pop-rock albums of all time and number five on my list of The 100 Greatest Albums of the 00's. Her sophomore was pretty good (#39) then she went country with her duo The Wreckers who released one album... then nothing. That album was 2006, Hotel Paper was 2003. Okay there was an EP seven years ago but there were also two aborted albums. Now she is on a new label and it seems like the album, produced by The Black Keys Patrick Carney, may actually be released. But hey, fourteen years my sound like a long time to wait for a third album, Bell Biv DeVoe is dropping their third today, twenty-four after their second. Wait, Spotify is saying they actually on their fourth and released an album in 2001... who knew. But anyway.
