Around the Tubes: April 4, 2026

I have gotten a plethora of cool press releases flooding my inbox recently that you may find interesting. This post includes blurbs on Alice and Steve, Elton John, Sting, and Cherry Bomb.

- Friends become foes in the ultimate wrong-com.  Hulu has released the official first look at “Alice and Steve,” the upcoming outrageously witty comedy from Clerkenwell Films (“Baby Reindeer”).  Starring Jemaine Clement and Nicola Walker, the series will have its world premiere in competition at CANNESERIES 2026 ahead of a summer debut on Hulu, and Hulu on Disney+ for bundle subscribers, in the U.S. and Disney+ internationally.

Positiva Records today announces that Elton John - The Remixes will be available to download exclusively on Beatport from 19th April. Fans can pre-order it now hereVideo asset, directed by Daisy Deane at DELA Studios, available to view here.  As previously announced, Elton John - The Remixes is a limited-edition glow-in-the-dark 1LP, released exclusively for Record Store Day 2026.  From his days at legendary 70’s New York nightclub Studio 54, through to his recent remix output and support for new electronic artists on his Rocket Hour radio show, Elton John has a long-standing and deeply rooted connection to club culture and dance music. Personally curated by Elton himself, The Remixes reflects this, spotlighting some of the most impactful reworks from his extraordinary catalog. Spanning euphoric disco, modern house, and underground anthems, the collection bridges generations of dance floors while reaffirming Elton’s status as a true crossover pioneer.

17-time GRAMMY® Award-winning artist and Rock and Roll Hall of Fame® Inductee Sting shares the Desert Rose Reimagined EP, featuring 3 brand new Remixes and extended mixes of his epic chart-topping crossover anthem “Desert Rose.”  Listen HERE via UMe.  Among many highlights, globally acclaimed Middle Eastern-American duo BedouinTamer Malki and Rami Abousabe—deliver a newly reimagined version of “Desert Rose.” Channeling the cinematic spirit of the original, they seamlessly stretch the song’s soundscape with deep house rhythms, down-tempo grooves, and international appeal. The pair accent the track’s instantly recognizable North African stylings with Middle Eastern flair, bringing fresh fire to it.

-  Cherry Bomb, the Los Angeles-based solo project of MisterWives' Mandy Lee continues to give life to her latest single "Digital Girl," a confessional, pop-drenched tune recently shared via AWAL. Her new music video, directed by frequent collaborator Matty Vogel, captures the overstimulation of the modern world—a place full of harsh contrasts, flashing images, and impossible shapes all crammed together in one picture.  On the splashy new music video, Lee boldly asks, "Who doesn’t want to smash their phone in 2026 and be met with confetti to celebrate? In this hyper-digital day and age, it’s near impossible to not fall down the algorithmic rabbit hole of comparison spirals, curated perfection, and infinite doomscrolling. I wanted to visually represent the tension that exists between conforming to the pressure or rebelling against it and what it feels like when the two coincide."  WATCH: "Digital Girl" (Official Video)
