57 Channels and Only This Is On: August 7, 2021

The White Lotus:  There are fewer things I need to see in my life than seeing a dude go to town on another dude’s backside.  I get everyone has their own fetish, but that just seems very unsanitary.  Maybe I would be up for it is she showers first, but even then it would have to be requested by someone way out of my league.  Now I am having trouble remembering anything else that happened this week,

Kevin Can Fork Himself:  Great concept that just never worked and just fizzled out in the end.  But that is some sitcom level stretch of reality for dude to hear the whole conversation in a closet on the other side of the kitchen that is being taken place in the middle of the living room.  WandaVision did a much better job weaving sitcom troupes into a drama even if the jokes on that show were not particularly funny either.

The Chi:   So did the mayor just bolt town?  He does not seem like a guy who would take being blackmailed very lightly especially if that means giving up all that power.  Then after Ronnie getting gunned down at the end of last season, the end of this season seemed very subdued.  It seemed a little weird they lingered on Kevin at the end.  I thought something was going to happen, but it just went to the credits.

Black Monday:  Ha, I knew it.  The dead Lehman Brother coming back and killing everyone one made little sense.  Really, the more he kept on talking about revenge, the more I became convinced it was not him.   It ended up being the person I guessed back in episode one and for the exact reason I guessed.  I just did not see Tiff coming back and saving every one even if I was suspicious that she died face down among a bunch of lookalikes.

Flatbush Misdemeanor:  This did not really feel like a finale, it seemed like it was more of a penultimate episode and everything with everything going being resolved next week.  But that is it.  I guess they better hope they get renewed.

Motherland: Fort Salem:  What a weird reveal to learn Raelle mother was alive at the end of the first season, wait until the second half of the second season to reunite them, and kill the mother off seconds after reuniting.  Although, is she dead?  I am not entirely sure what that black substance is and forget if Raelle got her inability to die from her mother.

57 Channels and Only This Is On: August 1, 2021

The White Lotus:  So I guess they are just not going to acknowledge the death until the final episode.  They are not even going to tease it except maybe the desk guy overdosing.  Maybe the college chick kills her friend in a jealous rage.  Not that the show needs a murder mystery (the death may not even be a murder, we just know someone died), it is entertaining without it.  The gay dad storyline is hilarious.  What point does the dad take up the desk guy’s offer?

Kevin Can Fork Himself:  So there was a shooting and that is all we know.  But who shot who and did the one who got shot die?  The police was very vague and as learned later in the episode, that is a ploy when the police do not know everything, but they want the person they are interrogating they think they do.  I am guessing Kevin did the shooting and gets off because of the Castle Doctrine.  If he did die or go to jail, does the show drop the sitcom? They did have the sitcom for the very first time without Kevin this week.  Maybe they change the name to Neil Can Fork Himself next season if Kevin did die or goes to jail.  Though I guess if Kevin goes to prison, they could do the sitcom whenever someone visits him.

The Chi:   That was a cheesy start to the show.  Sure, when I was that age I probably was doing the exact same thing to Jodeci, but at least I never filmed it.  But man, the mayor gets shot and he is back to being full evil beating a man (presumably) to death in his own house.  Someone need to finish that guy off.

Black Monday:  There goes my season long theory that the reverend’s daughter was the one killing everyone.  Though it is hard to predict someone if you were told they were dead.  The reverend’s daughter makes much more sense, why exactly would Lenny kill the reverend.  But now that I think about it, we never get actual confirmation that Lenny killed anyone, all he did was creepily grab an axe on his way out of the hospital. He could just be a huge misdirect.

Flatbush Misdemeanor:  “You don’t need to yell and cuss, one would be fine.”  Then admits he would not be mad if a guardian slaps a teacher.  Now that is quality principaling. But that was an unexpected ending.  That is one way to lose guardianship.

Motherland: Fort Salem:  The episode’s title was “My 3 Dads” and all I wanted is to know how that actually works.  But I came out of the episode more confused than when I first saw the title.  But those were some incompetent body guards.

57 Channels and Only This Is On: July 25, 2021

The White Lotus:  So absolutely no reference of someone who is going to die this week?  There was not even really a clue either unless the manager guy OD’s from all the drugs he stole.  But we got one of the funnier aid’s joke every.  That was a joke, right?  I laughed pretty hard even though it seemed pretty obvious that is where the conversation was going.

Kevin Can Fork Himself:  Finally something that almost resembled something funny in the sitcom part this week with Kevin going back and forth between his two birthday parties.  Now all his wife has to do is wait for his heart to explode from all that meat.

The Chi:   Who knew Emmitt had that in him.  I guess thinking about your woman getting down with other dudes with straighten you out.  But his girl definitely has a reason not to trust him.  I was thinking how long before his eyes start to wonder again.  Though I think they may get their movie ending by the end of this season and we will see if dude can stay faithful next season.

Black Monday:  I felt like I missed something with Blair being scared Tiff was going to kill him at the beginning of the episode.  I had to go back to the “previously on” to see if I missed something.  It just turned out he thought she was the murderer because the stock exchange lady had a heart attack.  Kind of a big leap.  But Tiff is definitely not the murderer because she just got show and maybe dead, I guess we will need some confirmation if the gunshot was fatal next week.  The remaining Leman brother is definitely dead.  With so many deaths, I wonder if this eighties show will do the biggest eighties plot twist and have the whole season turn out to be a dream.

Flatbush Misdemeanor:  My favorite part of the episode was after porn kept coming up, dude tries to explain it away by claiming, “I bought this used.”  Sure.

Motherland: Fort Salem:  So it is not going to dawn on her that the reason her mother did not show up is because she is not actually dead.  But she did realize she did she her ex-girlfriend last week and she was not seeing things so at least she is not totally dense.

In the Dark:  Well that plan went up in flames.  Quite literally.  But were they able to get all the drugs out first.  No reason to ask if they got Jess out, that one is very obvious.  But what now?  The group is going to have to be arrested now.  But I have always assumed that the blind chick would be able to clear herself if she has proof that the captain destroyed Harry Crane’s confession.  Mmm, I wonder whatever happened to his daughter now that both parent are dead.

Good Girls:  That could have made for a decent series finale with the girls actually moving to Nevada with the final scene being them robbing once again.  Just stop before anyone actually got shot.  Except Nevada just turned out to be a dream. Though I am not entirely sure what was going on once the dream sequence ended.  So they find the gun with her fingerprints all over it, I am presuming the same one that killed the nerdy chick.  But the Secret Service is just going to leave that alone?  And why did Annie get arrested?

57 Channels and Only This Is On: July 18, 2021

The White Lotus:  I was not expect this show to be a murder mystery but we learned someone died in the first scene.  Obviously we can write off the boring white dude since he was there in the future.  But since he was alone, this heavily it was his wife, but he seemed more angry than sad his wife died.  Plus they already set up plenty of reasons why she would want to go home without him (especially if you include the “This Season On” segment).

Steve Zahn and his possibility of testicular cancer also makes him too obvious.  After the first episode, I would definably put Jennifer Coolidge at the top of my.  She is all alone and sad.  In the trailer she even asks if booze will be served on the boat.  Alcohol and the high seas seem like a pretty bad combination.  But then after I did my internal power rakings of the cast, it occurred to me, does it have to be one of the guests?  Could it be someone who worked there but grew up on the mainland?  The manager is Australian, so probably not him, the pregnant chick seems native to the island, but I would not be too surprised if it is someone else.  Granted the masseuse lady is the only other employee we spent much time with.

Kevin Can Fork Himself:  So all the trouble getting the drugs and she is not even going to try and kill Kevin?  So now the plan if for him to go to jail for the drugs?  Seems like a worse plan.

The Chi:   So the mayor gets shot last week and they are just going to ignore who shot him?  Is he not even going to plot revenge?  But hopefully they are learning just how hard it is to keep the piece if you are policing yourself.  Dude is going to be the one that gets shot if he keeps going out trying to stop violence by himself.  He has already been punched a few times.  But poor Kevin, finds a girl to play video games with but gets blocked when he tried to shoot his shot.  Though I am not sure why he is getting more freedom after he punched a teacher and got kicked out of school.  Might want to reign that kid in after that.

Black Monday:  Oh snap, Mo just not so subtlety called out the Emmy’s for always getting the Best Comedy Actor wrong.  So Dawn is just going to work for Death Row now (assuming the white rapper that was hung over the balcony was Vanilla Ice)?  That should be fun.  I always thought Staight Outta Compton should have a sequel that focused on Dr. Dre’s time at the label and not entirely sure why no one has done it.  Well, maybe I know why and it has to do with everyone being too scared of Suge Knight.

Flatbush Misdemeanor:  “Things just don’t make sense, you just go along with them.”  What a great thing for a teacher to say to his class.  About as good as “If only he’s death, I think it’s a win.”  Who knew a bomb threat at school could be so funny.

Motherland: Fort Salem:  So the former partners were in the same place at the same time for the first time this season.  I wonder how long until they come face to face.

In the Dark:  Man, all that trouble and the cop just takes all the cash.  But that is on the dude.  If you offer the cash, do not present him with a bag, take the right amount out while you care in the car then give it to them.  But now we are closer to my prediction that the blind chick will go back to Chicago and become evidence against the captain.

Good Girls:  If the DA is not actually a DA what game is the skincare guy even playing?  Is the lawyer even a lawyer?  Clearly he is just projecting his distain on his wife onto Dean, It is just about control over other people because he lost all control to his wife?

57 Channels and Only This Is On: July 4, 2021

Kevin Can Fork Himself:  Ha, she reported the drug dealer who in turn ratted out the person that was supplying the drugs she was trying to buy.  That was the first time I laughed during this show so far.  But since we saw the neighbor in the “drama” setting this week, does this mean Kevin has the magical powers?  If she manages to kill him, will there be no sitcom?  Not that I think she will manage it.

The Chi:   So we got all the teases from the premiere last week but they still held out just who shot the mayor.  Surprisingly they revealed the shooter’s identity right off the bat.  Though I had absolutely no clue who that was at first.  It turned out to be Brandon’s mother who I do not believe we have seen since Brandon’s funeral back in the season three premiere.  And now I am left wondering if she was a bad shot or if she was not trying to kill them since he survived.  If it is the former, why not walk over to him and put a bullet in his head just to make sure?  That was just a pretty random reveal to bring back someone like that a season and a half later.

Black Monday:  I was wondering where Wayne was (okay, I was wondering where Horatio Sanz was, I had no clue his character’s name was Wayne) he was the only original one missing.  I guess he is dead now since everyone ended up being splattered with Wayne at the end.  But who killed Wayne and everyone else and shot Blair seems as obvious as how abducted everyone (seriously, Mo got picked up after Blair asked where he was): the preacher’s daughter.  But then it crossed my mind, what if it was Blair’s wife?

Flatbush Misdemeanor:  What is up with the rise of mean therapists?  The Winter Soldier was seeing one and now this one is so angry she is berating the dude’s neighbors for being so loud.

In the Dark:  They are just going to tease the lesbian dying all season aren’t they.  That scene on the road where they got out of the car really looked like the scene at the end of episode one.  Then she gets kidnapped at the end.  But by who?  The cops or the queen pin’s people?  Or possibly a friendly?  But I thought for sure the annoying dude would somehow skip out of the threesome, but good for him.  So does the Blind Chick call him or the other boyfriend when the lesbian does not show up?

The Bold Type:  I thought they brought Pinstripe back for Jane’s happy ending.  Instead Jane not only declines the promotion but quits all together.  Huh?  So now the editor in chief is going to be someone who was just hire back because she was fired for leaking information about the board of the magazine.  So stupid.  Good riddance to this show.

Good Girls:  So why did Annie try to escape only to cover for the guy keeping her captive?  And at what point does the bro squad recruit Matt Sarasan to their squad.  Granted, he does not know much, or really anything.  But it would be nice to be included.

57 Channels and Only This Is On: June 27, 2021

Kevin Can Fork Himself:  I was really looking forward to this show when it was announce but, wow, those first to episodes were bad.  The sitcom parts were not funny and the drama parts were just boring.  Well except when Kevin got stabbed.  Except it never really happened so that was kind of lame too.

The Chi:  I am surprised we got the tease from the first episode this early.  Though as Keisha was getting birth and the kids’ roaming the halls, I kept wondering, so when is the mayor going to get shot?   As the episode went on, I looked at how much time was left wondering if they dare save that for later.  But we finally got it.  Except we still do not know who the shooter is.  I was typing out “killer” but I am not entirely sure he is dead, he was shot in the side so as long as someone finds him in time, he could easily survive.  And what exactly is a racial equitable Olympics?  HE was about to explain, but then they were playing music over the explanation.

Black Monday:  So Blair built a panic room but all he does in there is panic?  But it looks like he will be going on the offensive, but who will he go after?  I still think the preacher’s daughter is the prime suspect, going after Blair and killing her father in retaliation for her husband hanging himself.

Flatbush Misdemeanor:  Okay, betting on a 100 to 1 Homecoming King is pretty funny.

Motherland: Fort Salem:  Man, this show really needed a much longer “previously on” segment.  The mythology is just so convoluted.  Now I am not entirely sure who the bad guys are.  Is it the main’s chick’s mother / girlfriend?

In the Dark:  I asked when talking about the season finale, with the blind dude figuring out Murphy was involved in the crimes, are they just going to go on the run?  I said that mockingly, but it turns out that is the case.  Though I have a feeling, it Murphy can somehow implicate the chief in letting Dean skate for Tyson’s murder, she will be allowed to stop running.  But what will happen to the dog school?  Will Murphy’s parent come back and run it?

The Bold Type:  poor Jane, while Sutton and Kat were participating in a sex montage with their season one relationships, she was working.  But I guess they really could not bring back the cheating Pinstripe.  I guess being the next editor is a decent consolation prize.

The Blacklist:  Well, that was annoying.  Right before the penultimate episode, new broke that Lizzie would not be back for the next season.  Since she would not be back but Red would, it because pretty obvious that Lizzie was not going to shoot Red.  But I guess it could be worse, I was under the assumption Ressler was going to shoot Lizzie to keep her from shooting Red for some dumb moralistic reason.  Sure, Townsend’s goon coming out of nowhere was almost as dumb.  Then Red shot the goon so no hunting down that dude, or even Townsend who got incinerated last week, so why bother killing her that way?

Poor Lizzie, dies without even finding out who her mother is.  She could not even read Red’s later because she was not allowed to open it until he was dead.  But seriously, who even wants to see a ninth season of this show without Lizzie?  Really,, NBC cancels Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist and Good Girls but they are going to air a ninth season of this show without one of the co-leads?  So forking stupid.  Sure, I will watch, but it will mostly be a hate-watch, much like most of this season.

Good Girls:  So why are they stealing the printing press?  Why not ask Rio for help?  I guess his version of helping would be to take out the old lady.  But you would think someone would mention it.  But what was with Dean just blurting out his wives crimes?  And then hiring one of the guys who heard him as his lawyer.  People on this show is getting pretty dumb.

57 Channels and Only This Is On: June 20, 2020

Fear the Walking Dead:  Oh wow, they actually set off the bombs, I just figured they would figure out a way to redirect them or at the very least they would turn out to be duds.  So is next season just them living in nuclear fallout?  Are they going to move up north?  Is there a place where they could go to avoid the blast?  Won’t the winds carry this to Virginia and affect the other show?  Although pretty laughable that nuclear bombs went off and only manage to kill one person.  Sure a couple other people died prior that may have been taken out by the bomb.  But just how do Morgan and Grace survive just by hiding under a truck?   The zombie had chemical burns.  At least jump in the car and shut the door with the dog.

The Chi:  Well that was a pretty pathetic protest, just three people... and the principal left work early.  But hey, if he left early, why not everyone?  But Jake macking on Jemma was super-obvious, I knew that kiss was going to happen the moment when they ganged up on Kevin while discussing the protest.   At least they did not draw it out.  But how long until they tell Kevin?

Black Monday:  So Tiffany wanted Blair to let the world know her father was a monster.  But then did Blair not use that platform to do just that?  Just to gain political points?  That seems like a good way to get shot again.  Or was that casket dropping meant for him?

Cruel Summer: Well I got one major theory right with the gun being Annabelle and Kate used that to kill Martin. My Angela theory turned out very wrong (unless that is season two but the writers said that it could be a continuation of the story or they may turn the show into an anthology).  She turned out to be Guy Pierce (who I predicted to be the murderer) in Mare of Easttown, someone you would think would tie into the mystery just because they are part of the cast, but turned out to be just very insignificant.  But if this does turn into an anthology, Jeanette’s mom taking about her time back in high school with Kate’s mom could be interesting.  Maybe we can find out what really happened to Kate’s birth father.  And / or find out who Tennille’s real father is.

The Handmaid’s Tale:  Wait, so June facilitated an exchange for Fred, but did not even try to get Hannah to be part of the exchange?  I get from a story prospective you need something to motivate June next season, but at least ask.  And are the higher ups in Giliad going to be fine that they exchanged so many political prisoners for someone who died in custody?  I guess that is good for Serena because maybe they will be hesitant trying to trade her for anyone.    But where does Serena go next season?  Does she have to continue to give secrets to keep her and her child’s secrets?  Will she even trust the Americans?  Will she thank them for getting rid of Fred?

But at least Fred was able to speak some truth on his way out, pointing out how gross the June and Nick coupling is.  What the fork is going on there.  June does not seem happy back with her husband, but Nick is the literal enemy.  Is she using him so he will help her to get Hannah back or does she truly love the guy who was forced to rape her.

The Bold Type:  I never particular liked this show, but the girl getting high this week was easily the best thing to ever happen on the show.

The Blacklist:  Oh, hey, I got another prediction right; Lizzy’s mom from last season was not really her mom.  Except, why not tell her she was an imposter.  Lizzy just blew up her life, figuratively, and literally tried to blow up Red, because of that lie.  But that was the only part of this episode I understood.  They have retconned Lizzy’s story so many times, it is hard to keep track of it.

57 Channels and Only This Is On: June 13, 2021

Fear the Walking Dead:  I never thought they were going to launch the nukes because what happens to this and the other shows if America becomes a nuclear wasteland.  But he did still get one rocket off with ten warheads.  Um, so now what?  Are they just going to be duds what have been sitting around too long?  I thought maybe Morgan would be able to redirect them to the ocean, but it looks like he will not try.  But one thing I do not understand about the madman’s plan, if he was directing the missiles on himself, who was going to let Alicia out of her bomb shelter if it is locked from the outside?

The Chi:  So they are going to defund the police and replace them with an untrained (unpaid?) community outreach?  Yeah, they deserved to be mocked for that.  But I wonder if by the end of the season, they “solved” policing a city without actual realize they are needed.  Like most things, the real answers lies somewhere in between the two extremes that the loudest voices propose.  It will be interesting to see where the writers lie.  But some angry white cop has to be on the top of the who killed the mayor power ranking.  But that would be as bad as the writers thinking they can solve policing if the shooter is not a major or at the very least recurring character.

Black Monday:  Wait, is Blair able to shoot people threw a television?  Not that kind of show but I think he may become the prime suspect.  Ironically I thought the preacher was the prime suspect of Blair’s shooting.  The same person had to do both shootings, but who?  Now I am beginning to think maybe Blair’s shooting was supposed to miss so maybe Tiffany.  But can she easily get on the preacher’s jet to do the shooting?  Maybe her partner, who is the preacher’s daughter.

Cruel Summer:  Well, that was crappy.  The Laid montage did not help it out either.  But on the eve of the finale, I have a few predictions: Annabelle is the gun Kate shoots Martin with, that is the gunshot we heard back in episode one and Joy was able to get the police to cover it up.  Kate saw Mallory dressed at Jeanette.  And Angela knew Martin and he was the reason she moved to town to find out the truth of his death.

The Handmaid’s Tale:  I predicted that the Waterford’s would be out of prison by the end of the season, I just did not think it would take this long.  Halfway through the episode, I thought he was going to get released in exchange for Hannah, but he does not even have to help with her release he just gets let go on the promise of information.  But what I do not understand is how the US dude was able to get his release if Fred is being tried in Canada.

Manifest:  So Cal is Olive’s age now because he touched the tailfin?  Where did he go and age five years?  I vaguely remember the airplane flew back in time for a couple seconds and returned in the future.  Did Cal go back in time, hang out for five years and was somehow transported right back to the same time.  But why did nothing happen to his dad?  But at least the Single White Female remains stupidly entertaining.  Chick just straight up murdered someone because she thought the baby was her guardian angel.

Previewing Black Monday: Season Three

Black Monday was one of the first casualties of the Coronapocalypse.  But the show was lucky that they had finished filming the season before shutdown and were able to finish editing the season and get the rest of it out by the summer.  Billions, which was airing at the same time still has not finished that season yet.  By the time Black Monday season two ended, big changes had occurred.  Dawn confessed to Black Monday.  Blair announced he was running for the seat his gay lover, who hung himself, used to have.  And we were down one Leighman brother.

Season three starts off with Dawn in prison, hustling while reading Shawshank Redemption (natch).  Mo has taken to producing jazz music in the old Jammer Group office after leaving Wall Street (or kicked off depending on who you ask).  Blair is a freshman congressman with an unfortunate historic office.  And there is a surprising Leighman brother replacement.

The episode titles in the first season referred to the number of day until Black Monday.  They dropped that for the second season, but numbers are back for season three: the season premiere is entitled “Ten!”  Next week is “Nine!”  What are they counting down to?  It is not explicitly said, but one character does talk about heading to the nineties while the second episode features some nineties references like lyrics to a 1992 Ice Cube song.  So I guess we can assume that is it until proven otherwise.  Personally I look forward to the fourth season with Mo sporting a Kid n Play style flattop.

Black Monday airs Sundays at 10:00 on Showtime.

57 Channels and Only This is On: July 26, 2020

The Alienist: Angel of Darkness : Thankfully we are finally done with the boy prostitutes serial killer storyline and can move on. Oh, the new season is about a baby serial killer? That is actually worse somehow.
You can download The Alienist: Angel of Darkness on iTunes.

The Chi: Okay, we finally learn what happened to Keisha: kidnapping by a creepy dude. Thankfully they did not drag that out all season (though we may still have to wait until the end of the season until she gets free). Oh, and Ronny hears her. Although, does he know where it is coming from. It is in the middle of a blackout. But I got to say, blackout episodes are always entertaining, more shows should do it.

Black Monday: Wait, so everything last week was part of Mo’s plan? That was very convoluted. And a bit confusing. Why did Horatio Sanz confess to Black Monday? If he confessed, why is Dawn in prison too? And if the other Lehman brother was the patsy, why did no one arrest him? Granted, if he can survive being crushed in a car, I am sure he can survive a wolf mauling.

Stargirl: So am I really supposed to believe Brainwave Jr. is dead? The guy does have the power to create a force field around himself to keep him from being crushed. I am sure he will show up in the finally just as it looks like the Injustice Society is about to prevail and save the day. But is Starman really alive and sending e-mails? Seems like it would be hard to survive an icicle through the heart.
You can download Stargirl on iTunes.

Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.: Well that was an interesting take on Groundhog Day which each reboot getting shorter and shorter. I also liked that we apparently started on the hundred take and we later learned that Coulsen was also part of the loop. But poor Enoch, dude gets left behind multiple times in the past and then has to sacrifice himself to save everything. Although, is he dead-dead? Can they not just put that power source back in him at some point? And what was with Simmons crying after getting the memory suppressor out? The only thing I could think of is could it be possible that Fitz is already dead?
You can download Marvel's Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D. on iTunes.

Doom Patrol: Please let the Constantine knock off kill Dorothy because she is really bringing down this season. Okay, the Scants turning everyone dumb were pretty funny. And we finally got an Animal-Vegetable-Mineral Mam update though it seems like the sex ghost are replacing him as the recurring gag this season..

Blindspot: Earlier this season Weller’s dad came back during his hallucination and I thought that was a weird person, of everyone who has appeared, to bring back. Weller Sr. and Jane’s first boyfriend who I had to look up. I guess they were saving everyone else for the finale. Though I feel bad for everyone who was relegated to just turning their heads in Times Square. But in the end Jane died… I think. That could have been the hallucination for the optimist I guess. Or maybe she actually died when that bomb went off last episode. Really, she breathed all that in and only need a simple antidote to survive?
You can download Blindspot on iTunes.

57 Channels and Only This Is On: July 19, 2020

Snowpiercer: I had a theory that there was a second train out there with Mr. Wilford that is actually the train we saw in the movie, I just never thought we would see it, at least not this soon. Especially considering Jennifer Connelly just admitted to killing him. Not her first lie I guess. So are there other tracks? I guess that would be smart in case something happens and you can just switch over. But this show has taken some major liberties with just how physics work, but the train boarding the other train may be the most absurd of them all.
You can download Snowpiercer on iTunes.

The Chi: Make Chicago great again… oh my. I guess it could be worse, Kanye could be running to the mayor of his hometown. I may have to vote none of the above if I were I were in Chicago.

Black Monday: Is Mo really going to give himself up to save everyone else? I think he has another plan working that will probably take out the other Lehman brother. Hopefully it is a better plan than Blair’s claiming he cured of homosexuality.

Stargirl: That was the weakest episode since they stopped spending so much time on on Stargirl herself. But I do have a new theory that the janitor is one of the Seven Soldiers of Victory that happens to have eight members. Unfortunately an upcoming episode title seemingly confirms this.

The Challenge: Total Madness: What an apropos way to end a disappointing season that was bogged down by the Dee mess by having Johnny win for the first time since he screwed over Sarah. On the bright spot, it will likely be a very long time until we see another season. Granted, the Challenges house have probably passed around worse diseases than the Coronavirus.
You can download The Challenge: Total Madness on iTunes.

Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.: How did they make anew Coulsen so fast? Did they have a spare? And what happened to the Max Headroom version? And what does it mean to the future that the one guy who should have been sacrificed to HIVE keeps royally forking up history? Does Daisy even get born if her mother is not at that commune?
You can download Marvel's Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D. on iTunes.

Doom Patrol: Wait, if the original primary is black, why does the body look like Jane instead? And why does she still look like Jane now that the original primary has taken back control? And why did the Chief leave Robotman in space?

Sunday, July 12, 2020

57 Channels and Only This Is On: July 12, 2020

Snowpiercer: Well we finally learned what happened to Mr. Wilford and, oh my, did not see that coming. I do kind of want to see a flashback for confirmation that Jennifer Connelly kicked him off the train to die. But the people that want to kill her for that are pretty short sited if she was the one that built it and has the best chance to keep it going. Somehow I feel Layton will actually be the one to save her.
You can download Snowpiercer on iTunes.

The Chi: Wait, what does that white guy have to do with anything? We saw Keisha at the bus stop, made eye contact with Ronnie, when the bus went away, she was gone. Could that have been the bus driver? Is the bus driver kidnapping women alone on his bus? But don’t most buses have cameras? Seems like it would be hard to pull off.

Black Monday: Oh snap, the gay dude just killed himself for being outed as a homosexual. Granted this was the eighties back before we just kind of assume the most ardent Conservatives are secret homosexuals. Well that will put a wrinkle in Blair’s legislation he wants passed.

Stargirl: Yeah, that was a dumb mission to go on, especially going down into the lair. At least Dr. Midnite was smart enough to turn around when the goggles stopped working.

The Challenge: Total Madness: Oh wow, they let Dee say more than five words this week. Of course she then promptly gets the boot. Her getting edited out really hurt the last couple episode narratively. #ReleaseTheDeeCut
You can download The Challenge: Total Madness on iTunes.

Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.: Okay, Deke misremembering the lyrics of his “originals” was pretty funny. I did not expect Coulson to show up as Max Headroom thought, thought they would just make a backup LMD. Though this trek to the eighties were fun, what exactly happened to the rest of the crew and how did they hook back p with Deke and Mac.
You can download Marvel's Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D. on iTunes.

Doom Patrol: This show really drags when they is not a weird back guy to fight or at least team up with. But we did get the shocking ending of Dorothy ordering a hit on Baby Doll. Killing a personally just is not on the par of killing an imaginary friend.

In the Dark: Oh wow, Dean actually killed himself, I thought they would continue to find a way to keep him around kind of like this season when he really should have gone to prison after admitting to killing a kid. Then the blind chick’s other other boyfriend found out she was trafficking drugs. So what exactly is next season? Is she just going to go on the run? Seems kind of hard for a blind chick.
You can download In The Dark on iTunes.

The Bold Type: Called it at the end of last season, Kat totally Lady boned they conservative chick. I feel like I deserve a cookie.

Blindspot: Oh wow, they caught Madeline with two episodes to spare. But there were still the Zip things which Jane got caught in a room with. Although, if Weller was able to get to the door, hoe was Jane not able to slip out? Are they really going to reset her memory yet again? And why were the evil people setting it off while they were in the vicinity? Would they not worry about losing their memory?

57 Channels and This Is On: July 5, 2020

Snowpiercer: Oh snap, they killed off that grungy chick. Did not see that coming. But is that room just dead now? But I guess if Jennifer Connelly can fix the train while under it by wearing that hazmat thing, I guess they could just go in and repair the then thaw it
You can download Snowpiercer on iTunes.

The Chi: So Emmitt just had to whip it out to get into the illegal kitchen? Yeah, that is not going to end well. I feel like there will be another baby mama in his future. And I kind of missed what the girlfriend meant by her people? Did she used to be a dude? Is she bi-sexual?

Penny Dreadful: City of Angels: another shocking death this week with the religious chick taking her own life. Though isn’t suicide the worst sins to the Catholics? Maybe Santa Muerta will save her soul. Maybe she will become a diety to fight Maergery Tyrell next season. Would be interesting because it seems like Maergery was able to recruit her boyfriend.

Black Monday: …and we are back. And everyone has their own weird agenda, so who will prevail. Well I am sure they will all find a way to work together to take down the people blackmailing them. Until them, Keith as a plant was pretty funny.

Stargirl: Oh my, the mean girl is really a mean girl. Pretty good allegory there. To think Stargirl almost melted that façade before reneging on their date. Had to Google who her father is, turns in he used to hang with Hitler so he is very evil. Though I still have no clue who the janitor is. I thought it was Dr. Fate but do not remember him having a massive sword like the janitor brandished this week.

The Challenge: Total Madness: I think we got even less Dee than before. Maybe one shot and no dialogue. Unfortunately my dreams of someone getting cut because they did not have a Red Skull were dashed this week. Really disappointed that no one tried to throw someone in that did not have a Red Skull already except Dee once and early on with Jay when people were scared to go in. But it looks like we will be getting at least another elimination next week which might be a decant consolation prize. Be interesting who gets thrown in. Might as well put in the two biggest threats. But everyone has played a weak game this time so probably not.
You can download The Challenge: Total Madness on iTunes.

Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.: So Coulson died… again. Do they have back up LMD on the ship or is he going to be brought back as a different character. Or I guess they could the team could run into a younger, not dead yet version.
You can download Marvel's Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D. on iTunes.

Doom Patrol: The first three episode were a bit of a drag as Dorothy really messed up the dynamic and everyone on the team were all downers and then split up in the second episode. Still not entirely sure why Cyborg went to Detroit. Or why he even came back. But things kicked back into high gear with the return of Flex Mantallo and his, um, most curious flexing ability. Which then brought in a new group that may be weirder than him, the Sex Men. A group that can best be described as Ghostbusters, but for sex. This show is so awesome when it gets super weird.

In the Dark: So the cops chasing evil lesbian were not at all curious as to why she was trying to keep that storage locker open? And just what is Harry Crane’s plan? He cannot get money from Nina. The last guy who tried to extort the group ended up dead. Not sure what he can do with it as leverage unless he want to try selling the stash himself.
You can download In The Dark on iTunes.

The Bold Type: Called, evil conservative chick is a lesbian. Now the only question until she starts lady boning Kat.

Blindspot: Oh yeah, the guy from the end last week was Tasha’s CIA partner, granted he is dead now. And so is Paterson? Weird they spent so much time talking this episode how smart she was only for her to run into a room that was about to burn everything inside. But they also spent some time talking about these escape routes and hidden panic room places so me thinks there was one in that room and she just wants the evil people to think she is dead.

57 Channels and Only This Is On: April 19, 2020

Homeland: Mmm, is Carrie really going to burn Saul to get the Black Box back? Why not tell him of the Russians plans so they can devise a way do get the Black Box back without naming the mole? Just how is Carrie going to find out who the mole is, inform the Russians, all while under arrest?

Black Monday: Oh hey, the gang is finally back together. Only took half the season. Most other shows would have annoying done that by the end of the season premiere. Be interesting where all the allegiances align now and going forward. I do wonder if Ken Marino is still playing both Lehman Brothers. I would be a huge time commitment to put Ken in all that makeup and then film another version of him as the other normal brother.

Killing Eve: Meh, I was really hoping that the show lived up to its name with that final scene last season. Kind of had to know Eve was not really dead, I mean, she was in the marketing to the season. But after Eve stabbed the crazy French assassin at the end of the season, and the crazy French assassin shot Eve at the end of the second season, where exactly do they go from there? I am assuming the crazy French assassin was not the person to kill the son, but who did then? The Thirteen? The Crazy French assassin's even crazier Russian assassin trainer? are the crazy French assassin and Even going to team up to shoot her at the end of this season?

Run: This felt like someone dared Phoebe Waller-Bridge to write a show within twenty-four only with the rule that it starts with someone getting a text that simply reads, "run." Hopefully it adds a plot soon.

Briarpatch: Okay, mostly half watched most of the season because I found it mostly boring, so who killed the sheriff? I assume that can she reached for is a huge clue but I missed it. But watching the dude get eaten by a tiger just highlights how much better the show could have been had they added more escaped animals. That was pretty much the only thing that set the show apart for other paint by numbers murder mysteries but the animals just seemed to quickly disappear.

Little Fires Everywhere: What really struck me about last episode is that for the first five episodes, Elena was this picturesque put together almost Stepford Wife, in episode six we just saw her completely crack multiple times. And then we saw her finally snap at Izzy. Then I found it interesting is than in the very next scene we see Pearl just snap at her mother. They have been clearly tying together Mia and Izzy but I am just now realizing that Elaina and Pearl are more tied together. Of course it is Elaina tells Pearl who she really is, not her mother. That just kind of confirmed to me that Mia is the one that burns down the house. Really, Izzy is the only other suspect at this point.
You can stream Little Fires Everywhere Hulu.

Survivor: Winners at War: My least favorite episode of any season somehow got worse: a full half an hour of loved ones, and even more than usually. But you have to feel bad for Michele who only had her sister show up when other had a spouse and three children. Really Fiji airlines, she and the others who only have their fiancés show up could not also have a parent or also a buddy show up?

Speaking of Michele, why the fork did she vote for Tyson? Did she just want to be part of the majority or was hoping to avoid a tie which would lead to rocks? Then did the group of five fork up? Shouldn’t they have gone three-three? Did they know Michele was with them? And how did Nick find himself in the majority after being on the bottom the last two weeks? How did Tony go from wanting to align the big threats to find himself in an alliance full of hyenas this week? Maybe the editors should not have spent half the episode on the family visit.
You can download Survivor: Winners at War on iTunes.

Devs: If Forrest was such a tech genius, how did he not realize that the reason Devs stopped seeing in the future was because Lily did something that it could not predict? When they first said that the program stopped when she went to Dev, my first thought was, oh, she just does not go to Devs. And yet both die anyway and meet up in a computer simulation. That may have been a more nonsensical ending than Annulation.
You can download Devs on iTunes.

Motherland: Fort Salem: I noticed this week that Will Ferrell and Adam McCay were producers. Wait, what?!? Have I been watching this right? I thought I have been watching a crappy sci-fi show, is this really a farce? I guess have the big bad being blue balloons makes more sense if we are not supposed to take the show seriously.

In the Dark: Two person consent laws are stupid. But seriously, the captain is really going to reinstate someone he knows murdered a child and is working for a drug queen pin because he says wants to bring her down? That is a stretch even by television standards.

The Blacklist: Well that was a weird episode. Red wants to go after the dude who makes guns after seeing someone get gunned down after murdering countless people himself after using the same weapon. Probably not the best vehicle to tell this story.
You can download The Blacklist on iTunes.

57 Channels and Only This Is On: April 12, 2020

Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist: Well that was a very special episode. Nice work adding in the deaf actors signing instead of singing. But of course the one dude learned sign language to get laid.
You can download Zoey's Extraordinary Playlist on iTunes.

Homeland: That was kind of a waste of an episode when it was pretty obvious Carrie would end up getting her hands on the Black Box. The only question would be if the Russian dude would turn on her or not. Oh wait, I forgot option three, she tries to fork another enemy of the state and then he still turns on her. I am going to miss this show.

The Walking Dead: Okay, the show has been a drag since… um, ever, maybe, but the weird purple haired chick is a riot. Hopefully she sticks around to liven things up.
You can download The Walking Dead on iTunes.

Good Girls: Wait, Leslie was not dead. Okay, I vaguely remember him “dying” only to be found hiding in his grandmother’s apartment. But how he ended up in prison is still a mystery to me. Really needed a recap of that. But now he is “dead” again but we do not get to see him die so I am guessing the gangsta has other plans for him.
You can download Good Girls on iTunes.

Black Monday: Boo, I am going to miss Mo’s relaxer hair. That was comedy gold. But Mo being cleared that easily, was a bit of a stretch even by television standards. What could the FBI possibly want that would let him off the hook? Speaking of being left off the hook, it would also be a cheap stretch even by TV standards if Keith going to the Lehman Brothers’ Club Fed and being released early was just part of Mo’s plan and Keith is in on it.

Manifest: I know I should not have expected different, but that was extremely dumb. So frostbite dude comes back to life because he did good deeds? Kind of ruins the suspense of the death date. And now we are stuck with a lame love triangle.
You can download Manifest on iTunes.

Little Fires Everywhere: Last week, Mia’s parents implied that the kid was not hers. I just assumed they meant biologically, but maybe they just meant legally because when you use a turkey baster, you kind of have to the biological mother. This definitely explains why she is so adamant that the co-worker should get the kid back. Hers were by far the more interesting flashback, but boy was young Elena scenes rough. You are certainly going through things if you are driving five hours to see an ex-boyfriend. But I wonder if they are trying to explain Izzy’s problems with the sip of wine Elena had at that dinner?
You can stream Little Fires Everywhere Hulu.

Survivor: Winners at War: So I picked Adam to win solely because he seemed like the most random person who got to speak during the preview last fall. It seemed like I was more and more right as he kept on getting screen time despite being kind of insignificant. And yet, there were a bunch of little scenes made to make him look like a buffoon, like the inability to get his torch in the stand, so I actually kind of thought that weird thing was an Idol, but alas it was not and he was voted out. After all that, can he possibly be the one that comes back from Extinction and actually win? If so, that would be one of the weirdest bits of editing ever.
You can download Survivor: Winners at War on iTunes.

Devs: I really kind of hate the trope of someone predicting the future, someone else says, all I have to do is not do the thing you say I am going to do, but then they always do that exact thing. I kind of hoped what ended the Devs future was the chick just did not go to Devs. Really the last half of the episode was kind of boring.
You can download Devs on iTunes.

Motherland: Fort Salem: Wait, did not one really notice the wicked witch raised the temperature, like fifty degrees? Huh?

The Blacklist: We finally get to learn Agent Park’s deep dark secret, broke a few laws to get to the person she thought was responsible for killing her mother, but of course Red was the one that arranged the meeting. Makes me wonder how long he has been following her.
You can download The Blacklist on iTunes.

57 Channels and Only This Is On: April 5, 2020

Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist: Is it too soon to call this the best episode of the decade? Of course, who knows when Hollywood gets up and running, we may not get much new television after next month. You start off with a great rendition of Crazy. Zoey trying not to sing I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Clause was one of the funniest things I have ever seen. Pressure was not far behind. Max was pretty astute that Zoey sang him a love song but sang Simon a lust song. Then they capped things off by making everyone cry. But are they really going to kill off Peter Gallagher? After the first episode I assume they would have him sing every week, but he has sung in less than half of the episode and just sits there bug eyed most of the time. Kind of seems like a waste of his talents.
You can download Zoey's Extraordinary Playlist on iTunes.

Homeland: Last week I predicted one of Max or the Taliban dude would survive, probably both. Oops, wrong on both counts. Although the Talban guy ended up surviving the first round of bullets. Um, Pakistan, maybe it is time to get better soldiers if you can miss the head from maybe ten paces. But I do not understand why the Taliban’s son killed Max that way. Why not do it on camera?

The Walking Dead: Um, where did Carol go? That was pretty cheap to just leave Negan out there like that after he brought your mortal enemy’s head. And what was going on with Beta. Why steal Alpha’s head just to take it nowhere and kill her? Did he just want to show her the new horde he was making?
You can download The Walking Dead on iTunes.

Good Girls: So all that just for the boyfriend to chicken out at the end? Meh. Well at least he got his bird back. Maybe the children can get the chicks after the bird lays the eggs.
You can download Good Girls on iTunes.

Black Monday: I hope we get to see the Rubber Room later this season, it sounds like comedy gold. I hope we do not see Horatio Sanz pull down his pants ever again.

Manifest: Um, why were the bad guys steal the hot cop’s nephew when they could have just as easily taken her instead? It is not like her half dead husband could do anything about it.
You can download Manifest on iTunes.

Little Fires Everywhere: Well that took an unexpected turn. I actually had to rewind the scene a couple times and turn up the volume to make I heard what I was not hearing. So, at least according to her grandparents, Pearl is not Mia’s child? Oh wow. I thought the twist was that the baby daddy was abusive but the real reason is that Mia was a surrogate and really does not want anyone to know where she is because she does not want Pearl taken away. No wonder she feels so strong about her co-worker is the rightful parent because she was the one that gave birth to the child. Now the big question is, what does Elena do with this information? Will she be willing to blow up Pearl’s life just to stick it to Mia? Will she blackmail Mia to stop supporting the co-work so her buddy can keep the kid? Oh yeah, and there is the whole fire business. We see Izzy go pyro this week, but like her name getting thrown out in the first episode, it is so obvious; you have to assume it is someone else. But other than maybe Mia and the co-worker, not many other suspects right now.
You can stream Little Fires Everywhere Hulu.

Survivor: Winners at War: Oh man, we were seconds away from the darkest timeline: Rob coming back in the game with an Idol. Oh wait; the true darkest timeline would be Rob coming back in at five with two Idols after accumulating enough Fire Tokens for more. But I have to say the creepy Nick montage was the greatest bit of editing since Angelina almost died while searching for an Idol.
You can download Survivor: Winners at War on iTunes.

The Challenge Total Madness: It is the biggest twist in the history of the show!!!!! Okay, calm down T.J., I am not sure it is top five. But it will be interesting how the power players who try to avoid elimination like the plague will play this. Do you try to go in early and make sure alliance serves you up a tomato can (and hope it is the type of challenge that favors you) or do you wait until you are near the end for fear if you go in early you may have to go in multiple times if you lose power? Granted this begs the question of if T.J. will even give them a head’s up. I probably would want to get it out of the way early.

Motherland: Fort Salem: What is with all the aging and de-aging? I get that they are witches, but I do not get what ends they are doing it in this episode.

Devs: Okay, when the old dude said to the young kid that got fired last week was nineteen, I was taken aback. The kid’s voice has yet to drop yet. So I did some googling and it turns out that young boy is actually a twenty-two year old woman in real life. That may have been the biggest plot twist on the show so far.
You can download Devs on iTunes.

The Blacklist: Ugg, I forget if the guy that Lizzie was looking for was Red as a younger man or his buddy that her mom abducted. I am pretty sure it is Red, which in case, good luck finding someone who no longer exists.
You can download The Blacklist on iTunes.

57 Channels and Only Is Is On: March 29, 2020

Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist: You know what makes a good show: The small details. Like having some random extra with a fake baby deliver a line like, “That’s usually not a very good sign.” That just had me laughing throughout the commercial break. Just having a flash mob which Zoey, and, well me, thinks is one of her mental breaks was pretty brilliant too.
You can download Zoey's Extraordinary Playlist on iTunes.

Homeland: Wait, they have lady judges in Pakistan? Who knew they were that progressive? But does the lady who was evil earlier this season, plotting with the military 80’s villain, really want peace now? Or is she the reason they changed the judge? So we were left with two cliffhangers: the Taliban leader is going to go in front of a firing squad any minute. Am I really supposed to feel bad for a dude who killed countless numbers of people, because I sort of did before remembering he was a mass murderer? Then Max is about to have his head cut off. But I really doubt after being so lucky the first half of the season, he goes out like that. So will it be the three man Russian crew (four if you count Carrie) or the American extraction team that saves him. Granted, since he did give Carrie all the information she needs to get the black box, so maybe they will shock us and kill both at the start of the next episode. Homeland season one would have killed at least one, later Homeland will probably find a way to save both.

Supergirl: Oh hey, our first Miss Tessmacher sighting in post Crisis. I believe when we last saw her, Lena essentially turned her into AI. I guess that did not happen. I predict she is back to being Lex’s mole inside Catco.
You can download Supergirl on iTunes.

The Walking Dead: Oh yeah, Michonne inexplicably left her children earlier this season to help some random dude find his family. And of course that random dude turned out to be crazy and almost killed her. But then led her to a ship that had something of Rick’s? Huh? And now Michonne is going to keep being away from her children to look for Rick with little clues? Huh? But speaking of people who have not been on the show for a while, the dream sequences reminded me that Maggie just disappeared without any explanation.
You can download The Walking Dead on iTunes.

Good Girls: That is pretty brilliant to bury a body in a cemetery. Doubtful anyone would dig up the other grave and find it. What was not brilliant was leaving the phone on so the boyfriend could find it. I thought the boyfriend would find the bird when he went over to Beth’s but instead he had a chance meeting with the bird when donating bird feed. How convenient. So I guess the boyfriend will continue to be a little bit of a problem going forward.
You can download Good Girls on iTunes.

Black Monday: There are fewer things I needed to see than Horatio Sanz’s little Horatio. But I kind of want an episode in the Rubber Room. That place sounded interesting.

Project Blue Book: Wait, are they implying that Quinn went through some portal to Antarctica? Isn’t this show supposed to be based on fact? This is going to be a hard thing to sell if there is a next season.
You can download Project Blue Book on iTunes.

Little Fires Everywhere: Well that escalated quickly. Elena just went after Mia who dished I all back. But is that custody battle really going to take up the rest of the season because it seems pretty open and shut. If you give up your child, you give up your child. You just cannot put a child on layaway indefinitely. Then what is up with Reece’s eldest? What teenage boy goes limp in the middle of sex? Seems as believe able as no assigned seats in high school.
You can stream Little Fires Everywhere Hulu.

Survivor: Winners at War: There is nothing more annoying on this show than whatever name gets thrown out in the confessional right after the Immunity Challenge and before the ad break almost never is the person that gets voted out. It is essentially a spoiler at this point. So when Yul said I was going to be Wendell, I knew at that moment is was almost certain to be Yul going home. Though I am not sure it was wise for Michelle and Nick to side with the guy at the last Tribal admitted he was willing to stab everyone in the back and front and could be bought with some Fire Tokens.
You can download Survivor: Winners at War on iTunes.

Devs: Just a reminder people, do not talk on the phone while driving. Wifey just blew right through that stop sign. But I was not entirely sure what I was seeing for most of the episode.
You can download Devs on iTunes.

The Bold Type: So Kat was fired and just like the season that ended with Jane taking another job, she will be back at Scarlett within an episode or two next season. But shouldn’t she be in prison? Especially if dude’s daughter is some high powered lawyer who already threatened her. Although the look those two had at the end of the episode seemed a little thirsty.
You can download The Bold Type on iTunes.

The Blacklist: There was a point for sure that Red was the one killing everybody off. Although, it did turn out to be a pretty entertaining Ten Little Indians episode.
You can download The Blacklist on iTunes.
