-  In early 1987 Elvis Costello played a six-night, sold-out stand at the Royal Albert Hall in London; three shows with the Attractions and three devoted to his 1986 album, King Of America, and other realms, with a band billed as The Confederates (the dictionary definition for ally or accomplice and nothing to do with America’s Civil War), featuring guitarist James Burton and bassist Jerry Scheff from Elvis Presley’s legendary TCB Band, drummer Jim Keltner, keyboardist Benmont Tench of Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers and T-Bone Wolk, who added accordion and mandolin to the ensemble. - PENELOPE, the Acclaimed Sundance Coming-Of-Age Episodic Co-Written by Mark Duplass and Mel Eslyn, Showrun by Mel Eslyn Starring Megan Stott ("Little Fires Everywhere") and Austin Abrams ("Euphoria"), now streaming on Netflix U.S.  Feeling out of place in the modern world, 16-year-old Penelope (Megan Stott of Little Fires Everywhere) finds herself almost cosmically drawn to nature. With no plan in place, she leaves her family behind for the beguiling wilderness where she begins to establish a different kind of life for herself. As she learns by necessity, survivalism coalesces with coming of age in this poignant tale co-written by indie stalwarts Mark Duplass and Mel Eslyn, and directed and show-run by Eslyn.

57 Channels and Only This Is On: September 29, 2024

 

Snowpiercer:  The show ends like it began, with the tailies fighting to take control of Snowpiercer.  Apropos I guess.

 

Only Murders in the Building:  More Ben Glenroy double?  If he keeps showing up, I may have to put him on my murder board.  Of course, that is if he survived the episode.  It would be funny if they killed off Paul Rudd twice.  I certainly do not think the Brothers sisters did it.  And it is not just because it is way too early to for them to find the murderer.  We still need a why and a why now.  Then there is also the how: how did they get access to both apartments.  Of course if it is not them, what about the shoes?  Are we just going to learn that it is a common sole? 

 

 Tell Me Lies:  I was skeptical that Lydia’s brother possibly raping Pippa caused their riff in the future, but now I think that just might be it.  And since he did the same thing to Diana’s sorority sister, it seems even more likely that is what he did to Pippa.   But it surprising that we are over halfway through the season and we are just at October.  I wonder if they are going to just do one semester this season.  But it was a bit disappointing with an episode entitled, Evil, Ornery, Scandalous, and Evil” and not overt Sublime reference inside of it.

 

Survivor:  Nothing like an episode entitled, “Epic Boss Girl Move” to spoil that someone in the bro alliances was going home.

 

The Challenge: Battle of the Eras:  Sigh, another week, another Era 1 player going home.  This is getting boring.

 

Agatha All Along:  The first episode was very entertaining, but many they should have stuck with a new prestige parody every week because I am not looking forward to a new Witches’ Road trial for the next month.  This week’s episode really drug along.

 

The Ark: Oh way, they really made it to an inhabitable planet.  Though, I have a feeling something might happen in the finale that will keep them on the ark even longer.  They are trying to blackmail people into blackmailing other people on the ark.  Maybe that is not the place to stay very long.

- Hulu has the trailer for the highly anticipated the original UK series "Rivals."

- Road Diary: Bruce Springsteen and The E Street Band offers the most in-depth look ever at the creation of the band’s legendary live performances, including footage of rehearsals, backstage moments, rare archival clips and personal reflections from Springsteen himself.  Road Diary premieres on Hulu and Disney+ on October 25.

- Check out the trailer for "Fanatical: The Catfishing of Tegan and Sara," premiering on Hulu on October 18th. TRAILER: HERE.  Tegan and Sara ascended to global fame as one of the most influential queer indie rock bands of their generation. They worked hard to cultivate an inclusive and passionate fanbase around the world. Listeners were drawn to the duo's beautifully confessional lyrics, but there was more than just the music. Fans found within the community the only safe space to come out and be queer during a time when few bands would declare allyship, let alone celebrate their own queer identity. But a bad actor took advantage of the community's trust and comfort. Tegan and Sara's world turned upside down when Tegan's personal files were hacked in 2011, revealing the dark side of fame and fandom. This is a sprawling yet intimate story of how Tegan's identity was stolen and weaponized in a complex catfish scheme to ensnare members of this community. The film is an examination of the severe ripple effect of mistrust, anxiety, and self-doubt that resulted from Fegan's (Fake Tegan) actions. 

- As Weezer continues to thrill fan-packed arenas on their “Voyage To The Blue Planet” North American tour, in celebration of the 30th anniversary of their seminal debut album, Weezer aka the Blue Album, the band has just shared five previously unreleased BBC recordings recorded in January 1995 while they were promoting the Blue Album on their first-ever UK and European “World Domination Tour.” The recordings of “My Name Is Jonas,” “In The Garage,” “No One Else” and “Surf Wax America” were recorded for BBC’s Evening Sessions on January 26, 1995 and are being released commercially for the first time following their original broadcast. An acoustic version of “Buddy Holly” recorded the following day for Greater London Radio which inexplicably never aired is also now available to hear for the first time ever.  The BBC Sessions are just a handful of the plethora of unreleased recordings contained within Weezer’s forthcoming Blue Album 30^th Anniversary Edition, due November 1 via Geffen/UMe. This must-have for any Weezer fan will be available in multiple configurations, including a massive Super Deluxe Edition 4LP + 10-inch + 7-inch box set as well as a Deluxe 3CD set, and digitally. - Multi-platinum, 12-time Grammy Award-winner John Legend today unveiled the music video for “Always Come Back”. The video features Legend Family photos, you can watch the video HERE. The track is from his latest album My Favorite Dream, an album of sing-alongs and lullabies for children and families, out now via Republic Records: Kids & Family. - Critically acclaimed actress Madison Bailey dips her toes into the music world with her debut single “The Grey” out today via Republic Records. Just ahead of the season 4 release of Netflix’s powerhouse Outer Banks (part one out October 10th,) Madison is poised and ready to introduce herself as an artist with her debut single. Co-written by Madison, the track laces a breezy beat with warm guitar. She flaunts her distinct and dynamic range over buoyant production. Meanwhile, her vocals take flight on the chorus, “I know it’s lonely in the grey. Don’t need to explain or hide all your pain. There’s nothing wrong with living in the grey.”  On the track, Bailey shares: “‘The Grey’ is about that feeling of not fitting into certain boxes or connecting with labels placed upon you by pressures of society: the message being to embrace yourself in that in-between place. - The Weeknd has officially unveiled “Timeless,” with Playboi Carti, through XO/Republic Records. The track made its debut during The Weeknd’s sold-out performance at Estádio Morumbi in São Paulo, where Carti surprised fans with a special appearance. The live stream of this unforgettable show has garnered over 17 million views and trended in 25 countries globally.  Watch the Live Stream Video of “Timeless” HERE.  Pharrell Williams produced the standout track which marks The Weeknd’s second collaboration with Carti, following their multi platinum hit "Popular" alongside Madonna. This time, they build on their previous chemistry, elevating it to new heights with an innovative and boundary-breaking banger.

- diamond certified, multi-platinum selling rock band Nickelback officially announce their new ‘Live From Nashville’ album releasing November 15th via BMG. Kicking off with lead single “San Quentin (Live from Nashville),” Nickelback: Live From Nashville will feature electrifying live recordings from the band’s legendary, sold-out show at Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena on their 2023 Get Rollin’ Tour, which was hailed as a “fiery, raucous, unapologetic and rock-driven” set by The Tennessean. Nickelback’s set featured several special guests, including some of music’s biggest hitmakers, and now the magic of that show can be experienced again with Nickelback: Live from Nashville. Lifted from their critically acclaimed, fourth studio album I Love You So F***ing Much—their most introspective record to date—the video is a sci-fi tale of love, friendship, and heartbreak, which thematically sits at the heart of I Love You So F***ing Much. Directed by Eoin Glaister, “Show Pony” is a western-inspired tale of an unlikely friendship: where alien meets cow.  On the video, Glaister says, “Dave had a personal story he wanted to play out through aliens. Our popular Couch Potato Country ad campaign continues to introduce new fans to all the benefits of Pluto TV. The star of our newest ad spot is Gary Senise with a focus on our true crime offering. We sat down with the talented actor to find out what being a couch potato means to him. Pluto TV: You were representing Pluto TV's crime channels. With so many years solving cases on CSI: NY and Criminal Minds Beyond Borders, why do you think so many people love and find comfort in watching crime shows? Gary Sinise: When I was considering doing CSY:NY (the third show in the franchise) I asked our producer Jerry Bruckheimer about this and he made a good point. There are always so many mystery thrillers on the Best Seller Lists. I think people are drawn to the thrill of the mystery, the process of solving a puzzle, and the sense of justice that often comes at the end. There's something comforting about seeing the good guys prevail, especially in a world that can sometimes feel unpredictable. Having spent years on CSI: NY and Criminal Minds: Beyond Borders, I've seen firsthand how compelling crime dramas can be.   Pluto TV:  What genres or types of shows do you like to comfort watch? Gary Sinise: When it comes to comfort watching, I love diving into documentaries—they’re a great way to unwind while learning something new. I’m also a big fan of food competition shows and re-watching award-winning classic films. There’s a reason those movies are timeless—they never fail to draw you in and make you feel something, no matter how many times you’ve seen them.   Pluto TV:  What does being a couch potato mean to you?
