Quote of the Week: First thing we are going to do is acknowledge this guy is awesome. He shoots Theo Tonin, fakes his own death in a spectacular fashion, pushes a guy out of an airplane while he’s flying it, parachutes into Harlem County with enough coke and cash to kick start the economy of a small country, and then he has the balls to get a job in law enforcement, not once, but two times. He’s spends a couple days riding around with you while you’re looking for him, and now he’s run off with a hooker that’s half his age. That’s some bad (expletive deleted) (expletive deleted). Video of the Week: Forget you new pope, the biggest announcement this week was the launch of the Veronica Mars movie. The Kickstarter campaign broke records raising a million dollars in about four hours and reached its two million goal in ten and went up to three million in about thirty hours (the previous record raised for a film project total was only $808,000). Even if they did not reach their goal, it was just worth it to watch the hilarious accompanying video featuring Ronnie herself Kristen Bell along with Ryan Hansen (I’m not the one with the When in Rome (expletive deleted) you money), Jason Dorhing, Enrico Colanton, and creator Rob Thomas.


Even though they have already reached their goal, as Dick Casablancas explains, that will be their car chase and nudity fund. Rob Thomas has also thought about adding more big ticket rewards, of which Corbin Bernsen even offered his services for free (which is not complete implausible considering the shows love of eighties stars Harry Hamlin and Steve Guttenberg). So now the question is how much money will they raise; enough for a sequel? Trilogy? Maybe if they get enough extra cash, they could get Jessica Chastain to reprise her role or Amanda Seyfried can play Lily Kane’s long lost evil twin. And the question after that is what prematurely canceled show get a crowd sourcing movie? Shawn Ryan already said he was interested in how the Veronica Mars campaign goes as a possible way to get a Terriers movie (Zach Levi of Chuck and the dude behind Men of a Certain Age have also pondered the possibilities). I am slightly disappointed that the moment after Veronica Mars reached its goal that Jason Katims did not start a Friday Night Lights movie Kickstarter or Brian Fuller with Wonderfalls (or Pushing Daisies). Or Rob Thomas setting up another Kickstarter for a Party Down movie.


Next Week Pick of the Week: Pretty Little Liars, Tuesday at 8:00 on ABC Family: The last two season finales of Pretty Little Liars have revealed members of The A-Team with Mona and Toby. They jumped the gun this season as Spencer pulled out a black hoodie from her pillow case which makes me wonder just what is in store for this week’s finally. Will we finally learn who is under the red hood? Cee-Cee? A not so dead Allison? A not so dead Toby in a wig?

Big News of the Week: A Melancholy Happy Tails to Davy Jones: Even though it stopped airing new episodes longer a decade before I was even born, The Monkees remained must see television for kids of all ages for years after the group tried to get serious. The show was slapstick gold and even though the fictional musical group were just hired as actors, the songs were surprisingly great most notably the show’s theme song, I’m a Believer (written by a pre-fame Neil Diamond) and their biggest hit Daydream Believer sung by Davy Jones and those songs will live on.

Most Worthless Character on The Walking Dead This Week: Andrea
When Andrea and Lori had their post suicide attempt confrontation I just sat there debating with myself which character was most worthless and realized there are a lot of worthless characters on the show that should be eaten by zombies sooner than later and so I thought I would make it a weekly event. Video of the Week: This really was not what I was expecting for a Veronica Mars reunion. Yep that is Ronnie, Dick, Piz, and Mercer (the rapist). But this is still marginally more entertaining than House of Lies.



Next Week Pick of the Week: The Lying Game, Monday at 9:00 on ABC Family: A show that started as a search for the twins mother seemed to sputter out in the second half of the season as they spent more time realizing just how evil Alec is. Although ever since she walked on screen it was apparent to everyone (except apparently the characters on the show) that AnnieRebecca was the twins birth mother. So I guess the big question as the first season comes to an end, will anyone on screen realize this (or that Ted is actually the biological father too) as she marries Alec.

Big News of the Week: Pilots Getting Ordered: There are still a few show announced last spring that have yet to premiere but networks are already ordered up a couple pilots this week. NBC looks to be keeping with their sci-fi leaning of late with 17th Precinct from Ronald D. Moore (Battlestar Galactica) about cops in a world of magic (Moore may be busy next fall because he is also working on a coast guard show for NBC and a Wild Wild West reboot for CBS).

While over at Fox they will try again to list by boycott against the network which I have not watch since the series finale of Arrested Development by ordering up a show by Party Down mastermind Rob Thomas called Little in Common about Little League families. If a perky blonde umpire who solves crime on the side is written into the show I may have to lift my boycott. One thing that won’t lift my boycott is another show by the dude who created Heroes who for some reason is getting another show with Touch about an autistic kid who can tell the future. Alrighty.

Then on the basic cable side of thing, USA continued its run of cheesiest show titles on television by ordering to series A Legal Mind, about a cooperate lawyer (natch) who recruits a brilliant but lazy college dropout, and Necessary Roughness which sadly is not a reboot of the awesome Scott Backula / Kathy Ireland nineties flick.

Does the world really need a full length movie based on a children’s short story sen through the eyes of the Twilight director? (SPOILER ALERT!: no.)

Castle: Holy Veronica Mars reunion! Okay so Parker and Deputy Leo didn’t share any screen time here or on Veronica Mars, but I will take what I can. And I wouldn’t mind if Parker sticks around because Beckett could us a female friend or just someone to fight over for Castle. But this begs the question whatever happened to Day On that Julie Gonzalo was starring in for NBC? Last I hear it got trimmed down to a two hour movie. Lost: Seriously, Jin is going to down himself and let his daughter that he never met grow up an orphan? Hurmph. I am really beginning to think I was on the button when I said that the “Real” timeline will end with everyone dying but everyone lives happily ever after in the Flashsideways like in that one Buffy episode. Happy Town: And we have our first “seriously” moment of the series when it turns out Kubiac (yes, I just made a Parker Lewis reference) turned out to be the one who nailed a rail road spike threw the dude’s head. Alrighty. The second would be the sherriff letting the Kube off the hook for the murder. Sure, why not. And if the dead dude said where the bodies were, why not at least take a look? Survivor: Heroes vs. Villains: Hopefully this is the last stand of Russell. Despite the previews, I cannot see Rupert, after his tirade against him this week, teaming up with him. I am really ready to get Russell off my television and if he is ever asked back to another All-Star season everyone is smart enough to get rid of him first. Community: I loved all the not so thinly veiled pot shots at the college’s glee club: “I’m all for winning but let’s not resort to cheap ploys,” “That is so uninspired,” “Write some original songs,” Couldn’t have said it better myself. Friday Night Lights: The season three finale just happened to air as the say day as Opening Day in Cleveland when a rai delay pushed the game into the evening pre-empted FNL and I ended up having to watch it on Hulu the next day. Then almost a year later the season four premiere just happened to coincide with a tornado warning preemption making miss the show because of weather two epidsodes in a row. Huruph. Here’s hoping the episode shows up On Demand so I am not stuck watching it on my computer again. You can stream recent episodes on Hulu.
