BEHIND
THE STREAMS

Tales of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles

Cowabunga! Next month, Leonardo, Donatello, Raphael and Michelangelo continue their pizza-fueled antics when Tales of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles premieres. The reimagined animated series—which picks up the foursome’s story after last year’s box-office hit Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem—will delight fans of all ages.

The 2023 film’s main voice cast returns, along with mutants voiced by Post Malone, Rose Byrne and Natasia Demetriou, while the series introduces a fresh batch of guest stars including Pete Davidson, Alanna Ubach, Jillian Bell, Christopher Mintz-Plasse, Timothy Olyphant and Danny Trejo.

“For everyone who loved Mutant Mayhem, it’s going to be all the action, all the comedy and all the pizza you’ve come to expect and more,” executive producer Chris Yost said. “We get to spend a little more time with the individual turtles, getting to know Leo, Raph, Mikey and Donnie on their own without their brothers by their side as they deal with normal teenage stuff.”

Grab a slice of pizza when Tales of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles premieres on August 9.

A MOUNTAIN
OF MOVIES

IF
Ryan Reynolds, Cailey Fleming and Steve Carell (voice) in IF

Since launch, movies have been one of the biggest drivers for subscriptions and engagement. Last quarter alone, 83% of active subscriber households streamed at least one title from our film library. Our latest streaming debut, IF—an imaginative story with big, colorful characters voiced by Steve Carell and Phoebe Waller-Bridge to name a few—soared to #1 on Paramount+ since premiering on July 9 after becoming a box-office hit.

Week after week, Paramount offers up a Mountain of Movies to discover. With a never-ending library that spans old favorites and modern hits like Mean Girls and Mission: Impossible, we are the streaming destination for movies.

57 Channels and Only This Is On: July 21, 2024

House of the Dragon:  Meh, another episode where no one dies.  But hey, we did get a Daemon sex dream with his mother.  That was messed up.  When you are having sex dreams about your mom, maybe it is time to leave.

Orphan Black: Echoes:  Will people really be arguing Celine Dion vs. Mariah Carey in thirty years?  Is anyone arguing them today?  Are they really going to be the Beatles or the Stones for Gen Z?

The Acolyte:  Well, we all knew Yoda was alive during this time period.  But will be see more of him on the show?  It was critically panned, met with a resounding “meh” by fans, and does not seem to be doing well by the streaming numbers.  This was supposed to revitalize the Star Wars franchised but ended up being a muddled mess, well, outside all the Jason Mendoza jokes.  Oh well, there is always Skeleton Crew supposedly coming later this year.

The Ark: Usually I need a lengthy YouTube recap to help me remember what is going on between shows, but after watching a lengthy YouTube recap of the first season and still came away remember none of that happening nor any of the characters.   This is one of the least memorable shows ever.

Around the Tubes: July 20, 2024

I have gotten a plethora of cool press releases have been flooding my inbox recently that you may find interesting. This post includes blurbs on James Bay, Joy Oladokun, Glass Animals, John Carter Cash, All American.

- Embarking on a bold creative era, three-time GRAMMY® Award-nominated and BRIT Award-winning multi-platinum singer, songwriter, and guitarist James Bay unveils a brand new single entitled “Up All Night” with The Lumineers and Noah Kahan out now via Mercury Records.  Listen to “Up All Night”HERE.  It notably stands out as his first official studio collaboration with GRAMMY® Award-nominated superstar Kahan and GRAMMY® Award-nominated group The Lumineers. Most importantly, it heralds the arrival of his anxiously awaited fourth full-length album, Changes All The Time, out September 20, 2024. Pre-order/Pre-save HERE. See full track listing below.

Acclaimed singer, songwriter, producer and performer, Joy Oladokun, releases her new song “DRUGS” today on Amigo Records/Verve Forecast/Republic Records—listen/share HERE.  “I wrote ‘DRUGS’ about feeling like my vices weren’t vice-ing hard enough” Oladokun shares of the modern-day anthem. She continues, “I think it became really easy for me to medicate my anxiety or anger or disillusionment instead of addressing those things head on. This is song is about realizing that and finding a new way to get by.”

GRAMMY® and BRIT-nominated, Diamond-selling British band Glass Animals releases their fourth studio album I Love You So F***ing Much via Republic Records—listen HERE. The album features their new single “Show Pony,” which the band debuted last night with a psychedelic live performance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon—watch HERE. This morning, the band will be chatting with Anthony Mason on CBS Mornings about the new album and its creation process, as well as their upcoming tour—be sure to tune in.  Painting 10 portraits of love in all its messy forms, I Love You So F***ing Much is the most personal record that songwriter, producer, and frontman Dave Bayley has ever written. From the existential to the intimate, from the first love we witness around us as children, to romance, hate, and heartbreak—each song is dedicated to a different side of love. From a tiny teardrop in an airlock to a vast galaxy, I Love You So F***ing Much is an expansive record with retro-futuristic production that travels in and out of the “shapelessness of love. “Show Pony,” the album’s opening track, is a lucid tale of a relationship from start to finish. Bayley shares, “Our first blueprints of love are the relationships we see and experience growing up. They aren’t always perfect, but they completely shape our understanding of love. That’s why I wanted ‘Show Pony’ to open the album. It throws you in at the deep end, but that’s life.”

John Carter Cash proudly announces the release of the highly anticipated album Pilgrimage to Rising Fawn, featuring legendary guitarist Norman Blake and an all-star lineup of musicians. The album, produced by John Carter Cash, captures a year-long journey of music, friendship, and collaboration recorded in the timeless home of Norman and Nancy Blake in Rising Fawn, Georgia. The album, available for pre-save here, is set to be released on August 2, 2024.   Norman Blake has graced countless notable recordings with his unique guitar style, character, and mastery, influencing musicians worldwide. Even as his career in studio work and road life slowed, Blake's creativity and playing continued to flourish. Over the course of a year, John Carter Cash transported recording equipment from The Cash Cabin Studio to the Blakes' ageless wooden home, capturing music in an environment steeped in history and natural beauty.

57 Channels and Only This Is On: July 14, 2024

House of the Dragon:  Aemond is just completely worthless, but it was hilarious that he just showed up to screw everything up.  But I am guessing he is not quite dead… yet.  But what about the line of succession if he did?  Seems like Rhaenera would have a better claim if he did die.

Orphan Black: Echoes:  Oh my, that wig was hideous.  But I wonder if they will ever bother explain how the teenager copy looks nothing like the adult version.

The Acolyte:   Ugg, another episode without Jason Mendoza.  Who thought having another episode without him was a good idea.  And who thought it was a good idea to repeat what was the worst episode of the season again?
