Lyrics Quiz: Best of 2002


Every January I like to look back ten years at my playlist of the best songs from that year and present them as a lyrics quiz. Now with Spotify, click to follow me, I am slowly added all my previous lists for everyone to listen and I recently added my Best of 2010 list to go along with my first (1996) and latest (2011). You may have to wait a little while until I upload my Best of 2002 list so until them you can try to guess the list by their lyrics below. As always leave your guesses, both artist and song title, in the comment section or e-mail me. If you are correct I will un-bold the lyric and give you credit. Lyrics Quiz: Songs from The Sing-Off


The promo monkeys at The Sing-Off had me worried there for a while; seriously, how dare they even suggest Antoine Merriweather might have been voted out last night. Thankfully much like any Survivor promo that implies someone is going to be sent home never actually does the following episode, Antoine and his boys were saved this week (weirdly with the doom and gloom promo, they did not even fall to the bottom two last night). With just one more episode until the season finale (though there is a holiday special the following week) I thought I would look back at some of my favorite songs from this past season in Lyrics Quiz form. Lyrics Quiz: Food


Today is Blog Action Day and this year’s theme is food and I thought I would dedicate this month’s Lyrics Quiz to the subject. Although it was a bit harder than I thought as there are not too many songs about food outside of “Weird Al” Yankovic’s catalogue and of the few that are, about ninty percent of them are not so thinly veiled euphemisms for sex so I have also included some bands named after food. The Adult Contemporary charts recently hit its fiftieth anniversary and to celebrate Billboard counted down the fifty biggest AC artist in the chart’s run. Even though I was not an adult for most of its existence, I still have plenty of songs from artists on the list and created this month’s lyrics quiz based on the top artists of which I have music by on my iPod (sorry Herb Alpert). As we wind down the television season, I am going to run down the best music placement of the past twelve months and as an added twist, I am going to do it in Lyrics Quiz form so you have to guess to see the actual list. Lyrics Quiz: One Hit Wonders of the 90's (That Should Had Been on VH1's List)


A couple weeks ago VH1 debut The 40 Greatest One Hit Wonders of the 90’s and my initial thought when it was done was that I could think of 40 songs off the top of that were more worthy than most of the songs they picked (a fourth of which should not even be considered one hit wonders, though I am sure some people could say the same about my lists). About a month ago, I declared Crazy by Gnarls Barkley the Greatest Song of the 00’s (check out the list for the other 999 that made my list). In honor of the accomplishment I thought I would run Crazy through iTunes’ Genius function and here are the songs it gave me.
